1Install the app

  1. On your Android phone, open Google Play and search for AlMasjidi, or use the button on this page.
  2. Tap Install. The app is free and has no ads.
  3. On an iPhone? The iPhone app is coming soon. Meanwhile, scan your mosque’s QR poster with the camera: it opens the mosque’s live timetable in your browser.

2First start: language and place

  1. Choose your language from 18, such as English, اردو‎, العربية‎, Bahasa Indonesia, Türkçe or Français. You can change it later in Settings → Language.
  2. At Where are you? tap Use my current location and confirm the place it finds.
  3. Rather not share your location? Tap Choose city and area myself and pick your country, city and area.

Tip: Your location is used only to list nearby mosques and work out prayer times for your area. It is never stored or shared.

3Choose your mosque

  1. Pick your mosque from the mosques near you or in your area, or type its name in the search box.
  2. At the mosque? Tap Scan QR and point the camera at the QR poster at the entrance. The mosque is added at once.
  3. Your mosque’s board opens on the Home tab. To find other mosques later, use the Explore tab.

Tip: Mosque not listed? In Explore, tap Mosque missing? Add it (you need to be at the mosque). Until your mosque publishes its times, the app shows prayer times for your area.

4Turn on azan alerts and jamaat reminders

  1. When the app asks, tap Allow for notifications.
  2. On Android 12 and newer, also allow Alarms & reminders when asked, so the azan rings at the exact minute.
  3. Open Settings → Azan & jamaat alerts. Tap a prayer to choose its sound and how many minutes before jamaat you want a reminder.
  4. For the sound, choose Masjid’s own azan (when your mosque has uploaded one), the default sound, a tone, or silent.

Tip: Alerts are scheduled on your phone, so they ring even without internet.

5Read the board

  1. Each prayer shows what your mosque publishes: the Azan time, the Jamaat time, or both.
  2. The red counter shows the time left until the next jamaat.
  3. The date line shows today’s date and the Hijri date; in Ramadan, Sehri and Iftar appear as well.
  4. If the mosque has not published its azan, the line under the board names where the time comes from (your city’s calendar or a calculation), with Wrong time? Report it.
  5. Coming changes appear above the board, for example “Asr → 4:15 from 1 Nov”.

6Silence your phone when the iqama starts

  1. When your imam taps Iqama started, you get an alert with a Silence phone button.
  2. For full silent mode, open Settings → Azan & jamaat alerts → Silence phone at iqama and allow Do Not Disturb access for AlMasjidi.
  3. Without that permission, Android only lets the button switch your phone to vibrate.

7Keep more than one mosque

  1. Your mosques are kept in the Masjidi tab: the mosque near home, near work, your parents’ mosque.
  2. Tap Set as my mosque on any of them to show its board on Home.

Tip: Without an account, your mosques are kept only on this phone. Sign in (Settings → Account) and they come with you to a new phone.

8Announcements

  1. Messages from your mosque (Eid prayer, taraweeh, janazah, a dars) arrive as a notification and stay in the Alerts tab.

9Share the timetable

  1. On Home, tap Mosque info, then Share timetable to send today’s times as a picture. The message is in your app language and carries the mosque’s page link.
  2. Share mosque page sends a link that opens the live timetable in any browser, no app needed.

10Add a home-screen widget

  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on your home screen and tap Widgets.
  2. Find AlMasjidi and drag the size you like (small, medium or large) onto the screen.

11Qibla and directions

  1. Tap the Qibla arrow on Home to open the compass. Turn until the arrow points up: that is the Qibla. It works offline.
  2. In Explore, open the Map to see the mosques around you and get directions.

12Useful settings

  1. Appearance: dark, light, or the same as your phone.
  2. Prayer times: the calculation method and Asr method (Hanafi or standard) used when no mosque is selected, and the Hijri date adjustment.
  3. Account: sign in with Google or Apple. This is optional.

Alerts not ringing?

The azan did not play at prayer time

Check that notifications are allowed for AlMasjidi, that Alarms & reminders is allowed (Android 12 and newer), and that the phone is not on silent or Do Not Disturb.

Alerts come late on my Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Samsung or Huawei phone

These phones stop apps in the background to save battery. In the phone’s settings, set AlMasjidi’s battery use to Unrestricted (or No restrictions) and allow it to start automatically.

The times differ from another app

AlMasjidi shows what your mosque publishes. If the mosque has not published, the line under the board names the calendar or method used. Tap Wrong time? Report it if something is off.

I changed phones and my mosques are gone

Without an account, mosques are kept only on the phone they were added on. Sign in on the new phone (Settings → Account) so this does not happen again.

Ready? Find your mosque

Install AlMasjidi and follow your mosque in under a minute.
